How to Become A Seller on Loopstock

To become a seller on Loopstock, first sign up as a Plus or Pro member. Once you’ve created your account and done so, the ‘Start Selling’ button in the top right corner of the website will instead display as ‘Upload’. Clicking this will bring you to the Upload Forms where you will be prompted to select your files and enter your desired pricing. You can get here from your user dropdown menu as well, where you will also see options to connect to Stripe and/or PayPal allowing you to collect payouts from your sales.

How to Upload Loops on Loopstock

To Upload a Loop, click on the 'Upload' button in the top right corner of the website. By default, you will land on the Loop Upload Form. Here you can select the desired .wav or .mp3 for your upload and fill out related details. You are only required to enter a title, price, and select between the upload being Royalty or Royalty-Free. However, we recommend filling out all details possible such as Key, BPM, Genre and Instrument/s. This will give your loops/samples the best chance of visibility for users on the marketplace. At the bottom of the Form, you can attach Stem and MIDI files at additional prices that customers will have the ability to add during checkout.

Note: To upload a free loop, enter the value 0 in the price section.

How to Attach Stem Files Properly

In the bottom left of the Loop Upload Form, you will see the Stem attachment section. Here, you can select the desired file and attach it with the loop being uploaded. This will either be a .ZIP or audio file depending on which method you use (Read below for common methods). You can set an additional price separate from your loop, which your customers can add for purchase during checkout.

There are two common ways to export stems from your project and upload them with your sample.

  • The first is by simply bouncing each track separately from your DAW (the steps may vary depending on which software you use. For example Logic Pro X, Pro Tools, FL Studio, Ableton etc…) This is the most accepted way. In this case, you would select the proper stem files in your storage after bouncing and compress them into a .ZIP file before attachment.

  • The other common way is by organizing the tracks in your project in a way where each instrument has a section to play by itself. For example, if your loop had a piano track, a string track, and a guitar track, you would arrange them one after another individually before bouncing or cutting it into its own file. Make sure to leave enough space in between the different tracks so that the tail doesn't overlap. Ideally this audio file woud be attached as a .WAV compared to an .MP3.

How to Attach MIDI Files Properly

Like the Stem section, you will find the MIDI upload on the bottom of the Loop Upload Form. This time on the right side. Select the proper midi file to attach it with the Loop/Sample you are uploading and set your desired price (Enter 0 in the price box if you want it to be included with the Loop at no additional cost). Your MIDI file will automatically upload along with the included Loop and customers will have the ability to add it for purchase during checkout.

How to Include Royalty Licenses With Uploads

Right below the Stem and MIDI sections at the bottom of the Upload Form, you will see 'Royalty-Free' and 'Non Royalty-Free'. Selecting ‘Non Royalty-Free’ will present a text box where you can enter your license as text. When purchased or downloaded by your customers, the license will be included as a .txt file in a .ZIP along with the other content.

How to Upload Kits on Loopstock

Selecting Upload in the top right corner of the website will land you on the Loop Upload Form by default. At the top of this same form, you will see the option to select 'Kit Upload'. After Kit Upload is selected, the form layout will change and you will be able to select the Kit file along with things like artwork and an audio preview. In the Kit Type section, select the option that matches the content in your upload (There is a wide range of options like Drum Kit, Loop Kit, Presets, Templates etc…) Keep in mind that you will need to compress the content into a .ZIP file before selecting it for upload.

How to add Collaborators on Uploads

In the Upload Form, you will see the 'Collaborators' section under Loop details. Simply add the collaborators email/s and enter the percentage you will be splitting. If the collaborator is not yet signed up on Loopstock, they will be prompted to do so when they accept the invite in their email. KEEP IN MIND that collaborator split payouts only work for users connected to Stripe.

How to Connect to Stripe

In your Loopstock Account, unfold the user dropdown menu next to the Upload button in the top right corner. Here, you will see ‘Connect to Stripe’ under Purchases/Downloads. After selecting this, you will be taken to Stripes website and be prompted to log in (or create an account if you haven’t already). WE RECOMMEND CREATING A STRIPE ACCOUNT EXTERNALLY IF YOU ARE A NEW USER BEFORE CONNECTING. After logging in, you will be directed back to Loopstock and you will see a confirmation in the top right that your account is connected (Stripe may ask you for more info about your business. This is standard legal compliance on their end). Connecting to Stripe is recommended as it will display card checkout along with Apple and Google Pay for your customers, Whereas connecting to Paypal alone will only allow Paypal checkout and vice versa.

In the case that you are directed to a screen indicating that your connect attempt was unsuccessful, log into your stripe account and check if they are requesting more info about you or your business. Then log back into your Loopstock account and select ‘Connect to Stripe’ again (it may help to clear your cache history before). You may need to repeat the connect steps presented by Stripe.

How to Connect to PayPal

To connect your PayPal and Loopstock account for payouts, select ‘Connect to PayPal” in your user dropdown menu. This will bring you to your Profile Information where you will see a Connect to PayPal box. Simply enter the email associated with the PayPal account you will be accepting payouts with and hit ‘Save’ on the bottom of the page.

How to Edit Uploads

In your user dropdown menu, select ‘My Uploads’. Select which loop or kit you are trying to edit and make the desired changes before clicking save. The edits will display on your uploads.

As a seller on Loopstock, you have the ability to connect to both Stripe and Paypal. Here we will break down the positives and negatives of both and why we recommend connecting to both to make checkout for your customers as convenient as possible so you can generate as many conversions as possible as a seller.

Stripe vs Paypal On Loopstock

Stripe:

  • Lower fees (2.9%, + $0.30 fee per transaction)

  • Displays Credit/Debit Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay options for customers

  • Faster payouts

  • More flexible payment options

  • Better customer support

  • Not as widely accepted as Paypal

  • More complex to set up

Paypal:

  • More widely accepted than Stripe

  • Arguably easier to set up

  • Familiar to wide range of customers

  • Higher fees

  • Less flexible payment options

Again, we recommend connecting to both Stripe and Paypal to make checkout for your customers as convenient as possible. This will help you make as many sales as possible.
